Kids Central is the lead agency for Circuit 5 in the state of Florida and contracts through the Department of Children and families to perform child welfare services in Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter counties. State funds are primarily used to hire staff, provide direct services and to purchase services from third parties. These funds have their own set of rules, regulations and policy interpretations.
Kids Central relies on other funding sources, such as foundation or federal grants to provide services and perform functions that are not provided for in the state contract. Many times, these grants allow Kids Central the flexibility to utilize innovative and cutting edge best practices to service our clients.
