April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
End Kids’ Tears is a public awareness campaign established by Kids Central in 2009 to draw attention to the epidemic of child abuse in the local counties of Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter. Child abuse and domestic violence are commonly hidden behind closed doors and ignored by communities as a whole. People do not want to admit that child abuse is problem in their communities; however, every community suffers from child abuse.
Like the End Kids’ Tears Facebook page and spread the message about how to prevent child abuse.
Child abuse and neglect is a troubling issue in our communities, but it is not insurmountable. If we all take simple steps, we can make a real difference in the lives of suffering children. The 40 Developmental Assets is a movement focused on teaching caregivers, teachers, neighbors and all community members the 40 common sense attributes children need to succeed.
