Non-Tournament Golf Tournament
Kids Central and children we serve need your help.
For seven consecutive years, Kids Central has held its annual golf tournament, Tee Off for Kids, to raise crucial fundraising dollars. These dollars are what allow Kids Central the flexibility to put a mother and her children up in a hotel while waiting for a bed to come available in the local domestic violence shelter, and they give us the capability to make sure a grandmother whose three grandchildren were left on her doorstep have school clothes. “Green dollars” provided by donors like you are what distinguish how Kids Central cares for its families from other state contracted agencies. And we need your help now.
The golf course that was slated to be the venue of the 2016 Tee Off for Kids fell through, and there is no time to pull together a tournament at another course. But you can still help; donate to the non-tournament golf tournament, a virtual fundraising initiative to ensure our families don’t go without even though we must go without our annual 18 holes. If every sponsor from 2015 Tee Off for Kids donated half of what they donated last year and each foursome donated $280, only $70 each golfer, we would raise the same amount as last year! No one would have to get sweaty, take off from work, or travel.
To demonstrate our appreciation, Kids Central will continue to recognize and thank its donors. All business sponsors will be recognized on the corporate website and in the annual report. Individual donors who would like to be recognized will also be listed on the corporate website. Furthermore, all donations are tax deductible, and at no additional cost, you are sure to receive the satisfied feeling often reported after helping children. As an added bonus, all supporters who contribute $400 or more will receive two complimentary tickets to Casino Royale. If you missed last year’s Casino Royale at the Ocala Hilton, you definitely missed a night to remember. Don’t worry, the third annual Casino Royale is scheduled for March 24th at the Ocala Hilton and this year Elvis will be in the building!
Seventh Annual Tee Off for Kids Golf Tournament
The 7th Annual Tee Off for Kids charity golf tournament benefiting Kids Central was held on November 9, 2015 at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club. This was its first year in Ocala. The first six years were spent at Black Diamond Quarry Course in Citrus County. Black Diamond took great care of Kids Central, but with Kids Central’s corporate presence in Ocala, it made sense to relocate the tournament to the area. Please read the full story.
Thank you to all of the golfers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters of the 7th Annual Tee Off for Kids Golf Tournament. Below are the sponsors and supporters of this year’s tournament. The entire program can be seen here.
Sixth Annual Tee Off for Kids Golf Tournament
On November 10, 2014, Kids Central welcomed 72 golfers to compete in our premiere annual golf tournament fundraiser. The 6th Annual Tee Off for Kids raised money for children and families in crisis and was hosted by the prestigious Black Diamond in Lecanto, Citrus County. The event took place on the reknown Quarry Course and grossed over $31k in cash and $100k from in-kind products and services.
There were a great deal of wonderful sponsors and supporters returning from last year including Youth and Family Alternatives, Jenkins Auto Group and Verteks. Florida Representatives Jimmie Smith and Dennis Baxley attended the Closing Ceremonies. Chief of Staff, Justin Grabelle from US Congressman Richard Nugent’s office played alongside two veterans and provided an American flag that was flown over the United States Capitol for a special raffle for veterans.
The event had stunning silent auction that brought in over 6K and one lucky golfer attempted a $1Million Dollar Hole-In-One shot! There was a putting contest worth $5,000, and LOVE Honda had a brand new Honda Civic placed on Hole #17.
A major attraction this year was entertainment on hole #14 provided by Charity Golf International. Dewald Gouws provided an amazing performance with long drives and trick shots while also raising money for the kids.Guests and players received a commemorative Tee Off for Kids 2014 golf “medal.”

Fifth Annual Tee Off for Kids Golf Tournament
A crowd of 77 golfers descended upon The Black Diamond Quarry Course on Veterans Day to Compete so Our Children Win! The 5th Annual Tee Off for Kids sought veterans this year to come and celebrate Veterans Day while raising money for Kids Central’s unfunded prevention programs. The prestigious Black Diamond Quarry Course was the host for the Veterans Day Celebration on November 11, 2013.
Retired Lt. Col. Frank Rasbury was Kids Central’s honored guest. He played in a foursome comprised of Kids Central CEO and veteran, John Cooper; Florida Coalition for Children CEO, Kurt Kelly; and Big Bend CBC CEO, Mike Watkins.
This year there were more sponsors and supporters than ever before. Several members of the Kids Central Board of Directors were present for the closing ceremonies which was also attended by Florida Rep. Jimmie Smith of the Community and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee, and US Congressman and former Hernando Sheriff, Richard Nugent.
The event was filled with happy faces, especially from the foursome from the West Ocala Marines Corp League Detachment 1072 and a foursome of Airmen from Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, both who received a generous sponsored foursome donated by Youth and Family Alternatives and Cory Pool at Jenkins Auto Group. Tito’s Vodka had a busy Beverage Station serving vodka sensations on the course and three lucky golfers attempted a $1M Hole-In-One shot. There was also a putting contest worth $5,000, and LOVE Honda had a brand new Honda Fit placed on Hole #17. In an email from airman Jeremiah Odendahl, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play the Quarry Course.
“We truly had such an incredible time. The course was beautiful and the event was so wonderfully put together. Thank you so very much for having us. My supervisor would love to know how the event did in order to spread the word about Kids Central and the great things you did...Again I can’t thank you enough for having us along! You made our veterans day a truly special one.”
In honor of Veterans Day, guests and players received a commemorative Tee Off for Kids 2013 golf “medal.” Kids Central CEO, John Cooper, and members of the Board of Directors were joined by Florida House Representative Jimmie Smith of the Community and Veterans Affairs Sub-committee during the Cocktail Hour and Award Ceremony. Rep. Smith shared with Lt. Col. Rasbury the pride of a paratrooper in their military careers, received his commemorative Tee Off for Kids medal and addressed the audience.
United States Congressman, Richard Nugent, and his Chief of Staff, Justin Grabelle, were also in attendance for the Cocktail Reception. Congressman Nugent and Frank Rasbury are friends and Nugent has been a long-time friend and supporter of Kids Central dating back to his days as Hernando Sheriff.
Entertainment was provided by three talented performers who call themselves Ladies and Gentlemen. Their music was the perfect backdrop for the event and their performance was the talk of the room, especially when joined by the beautiful voice of Frank Rasbury’s wife, Naida, singing a patriotic song. These talented youth each play several different instruments and are each gifted musicians. Karl explained that he was very excited to play for Kids Central. His parents have adopted two children from Russia, one from Florida that he grew up as a result of a difficult family situation, one from the Philippines and another child on the way from the Philippines. “Kids Central is a non-welfare approach to helping kids in abusive situations. Take Steve Jobs for example. This organization uses compassion to save kids, and those kids will change the world” said Karl.
The winning foursome was registered by veteran and President/Owner of Powerhouse Two, a manufacturing company in the Orlando area. Other players in the winning foursome were John Kieras, Ryan Chapdelaine and Ben Johnson. Tom proved to be an invaluable source of information when the tournament was in its early planning stages. Each player in the winning foursome won a Caribbean vacation to go with their trophy!
Tournament Sponsorships were also provided from Verteks Consulting, Bouchard Insurance, AETNA, Ocala Magazine, WIND-FM, Jim & Gail Burry, Lake Sumter Community College Foundation, Publix, WiseWay Auto Sales, Windstream, Phillips Chrysler Jeep, and others with over $50,000 in generous in-kind donations from businesses both large and small.
