Volunteer opportunities to partner with Kids Central

Resource Center

The Resource Center accepts donated items and fulfills customer requests. Food, clothing, household items, and furniture are donated to the Resource Center. The items are inventoried. When families are in need of assistance a staff member requests items from the Resource Center.

Volunteer opportunities in the Resource Center include inventorying items, organization, fulfilling customer requests, accepting donations, picking up donations, and delivering donations. 

Location: Work within the Resource Center is at the Wildwood corporate office. Special projects can be completed within Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter Counties.

Community Affairs

The Community Affairs department manages the organization’s website, produces various newsletters, writes for the blog, fundraises, organizes events and attends community events.

Volunteer opportunities in Community Affairs may include updating the website, writing for the blog or newsletter, creating flier/print materials, assisting with event planning, donor research, and fundraising. To learn more or apply for this volunteer opportunity, please complete the volunteer request for information.

Location: Working with Community Affairs can be done at the Wildwood corporate office or virtually.

Family Resource Centers

The Kids Central Family Resource Centers are neighborhood-specific projects placed in areas with high-risk factors for child abuse and neglect. Each project works within its community to address the needs of the community. They are located in West Ocala, Wildwood and Leesburg.

Volunteer opportunities within the Family Resource Centers may include helping others use computers, adult mentoring, receptionist, event planning, and event assistance. To learn more or apply for this volunteer opportunity, please complete the volunteer request for information.

Location: Volunteer opportunities are located at each Family Resource Center location: West Ocala, Wildwood and Leesburg.

Kinship Care

Kinship Care helps relatives raising relative children. Families are provided with access to support groups, help navigating the education and legal system, case management services, family finding, family team conferencing and holiday assistance.

Volunteer opportunities in Kinship Care may include filing assistance applications, assisting the support group facilitator, and childcare. 

Location: Helping Kinship Care can be completed at the Wildwood corporate office or in the locations of the support groups.

IT Department

The IT Department at Kids Central is responsible for keeping the general maintenance of the organization’s equipment, building and vehicles. They are responsible for troubleshooting technological issues and assisting staff with resolving building, equipment and vehicle issues. The department processes new employees and volunteers which includes fingerprinting, creating badges, and setting up work stations.

Volunteer opportunities in IT may include fingerprinting people, replacing printer toners, restocking paper products, computer and email troubleshooting, software demonstrations, and workstation setup.
